Suwanee Georgia Schools, Real Estate And More

First created as a Native American village in Georgia, the city of Suwanee, Gwinnett County, is situated on the Chattahoochee River as it was originally a societal and economic asset to the community. As the city grew, Suwanee eventually became recognized by the U.S. government in 1837, when the town's first post office was built. Over the years, economic pushes led to the Georgia Air Line Railroad being built, which only increased population.

Several years later, we began to see landmarks in the area that we still see today, including Buford Highway and Interstate 85. In the past twenty years, the most significant growth has been seen as its current population is now at 17,000. Also, Suwanee was named a City of Excellence by the Georgia Municipal Association and Trend Magazine in 2003, leading to even more popularity for the suburb.

As it is located about 25 miles north of Georgia's capital city of Atlanta, Suwanee has a large number of things to do, including a quick trip to neighboring Buford to shop and dine at the Mall of Georgia, concerts and activities at Suwanee Town Center (including the Big Splash fountain in the summer), and festivals like the Suwanee Beer Fest, Food Truck Fridays, and the weekly Suwanee Farmer's Market. In addition, it is always an option to travel down to Atlanta to see the Coca Cola Museum or the Georgia Aquarium. With a ton of options like these, there is always something to do in Suwanee!

Along with the multitude of activities to partake in, Suwanee residents do know how to get educated too! With nearly all public schools in the city scoring an 8/10 or higher on www.GreatSchools.com, education in this area of Gwinnett county is at premium level.
